Acceptable Use Policy

Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) sets forth the guidelines and restrictions regarding the use of web hosting services provided by RackNode (“the Company”) to its customers (“the Client” or “User”). By using the services offered by the Company, the Client agrees to comply with this AUP and to remain responsible for its use of the services, including the actions of any third parties that access the services through the Client’s account.

General Conduct

Clients are expected to use the RackNode services responsibly and with respect to the Company and the Internet community. Use of the services should not be harmful to others or illegal under any applicable law. The following activities are explicitly prohibited:

  • Illegal Activities: Engaging in any activity that is illegal under local, state, national, or international law while utilizing the services.

  • Security Violations: Attempting unauthorized access to, or use of, data, systems, or networks, including any attempt to probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of a system or network.

  • Port Scanning: Conducting port scans or other invasive procedures aimed at identifying vulnerabilities of any network or system without explicit authorization from the network or system owner.

  • Crypto Mining: Operating cryptocurrency mining software or hardware using the Company’s services without explicit authorization. This includes, but is not limited to, Bitcoin mining, Ethereum mining, and any other form of digital currency mining.

  • Abuse of Server or Network: Overloading the Company’s servers, degrading the Company’s network performance, or consuming excessive amounts of server resources or network bandwidth.

  • Prohibited Uses: Including, but not limited to, distributing viruses, worms, or other malicious software; hosting or distributing pirated software or media; engaging in phishing or fraudulent activities; and sending unsolicited email messages or spam

SMTP Ports Policy

  • VPS and VDS Services:
    All SMTP ports are blocked by default to prevent misuse and spam. If you require SMTP functionality, please submit a request, and we will review it. Upon approval, the necessary ports will be opened.

  • Dedicated Servers:
    SMTP ports are open by default on all dedicated servers. However, if we receive any abuse reports related to email spam or misuse, we reserve the right to permanently block SMTP ports without further notice.

Enforcement

RackNode reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate legal and technical actions against anyone who violates this AUP. This may include, but is not limited to, suspending or terminating the Client’s service with or without notice.

Reporting Violations

Clients are encouraged to report any violations of this AUP to the Company. RackNode will review and investigate all reports and take appropriate action as deemed necessary.

Revisions to the AUP

The Company reserves the right to revise, amend, or modify this AUP at any time and in any manner. Notice of any revision, amendment, or modification will be posted on the Company’s website and/or communicated to the Clients directly.
